Filmmaking Resources

Equipment

An inventory of OUFF’s equipment can be found here.

Pitching for use our equipment opens at the start of every term and is submitted through a Google Form circulated at the time. Read our pitching guidelines here.

Casting

For university-aged roles, publish casting calls on the OUDS audition portal and Facebook group. For advice on casting older and child actors, read the guide below.

If you are a local actor and would like to be contacted about expenses-only acting opportunities, get in touch!

Crew

Crew calls are usually put out on our Facebook group. You can also submit crew calls for our newsletter. You can also try the TAFF mailing list.

If you would like to be contacted for crew opportunities, register for the OUFF Directory.

PITCH TO OUFF

You can pitch to OUFF for the free use of our equipment. Please submit your pitch as single .pptx in accordance without pitching guidelines.

Rentals

Any student or member of the University of Oxford can request to rent our equipment for a fee during term. We charge £50/day for the camera (including batteries, lenses, and a tripod), and £100/day for our Tier One package. Members receive a discount. Please email contact@ouff.org.uk if you wish to enquire about renting our kit.

PROJECTS ‘22

Most people have never made a film before university. OUFF produces short films to give experience to those starting out. These are the films from the second year of the scheme.

 PROJECTS ’21

OUFF’s Projects scheme utilises scripts submitted to our annual screenwriting competition to support new filmmakers. Filmmakers apply for Director and Producer roles during the summer (or filmmakers can register interest for additional roles). OUFF pairs Directors and Producers to 5 page scripts of their choice and assists them through casting, crew, and pre-production. Crews are given the equipment for free during Michaelmas Term and are supported by a grant from the society. The Projects films are automatically selected for the OUFF Short Film Festival in Hilary Term.
